Lenovo and University of Birmingham install innovative high performance computing with low cooling costs

The University of Birmingham required a server solution which could provide cooling for servers contained in a small space, yet which was also flexible and scalable to meet the needs of both HPC and virtualised cloud environments. The solution was a Lenovo NeXtScale System with a combined server cooling system of air chillers and warm water cooling. The system took up to 90% of the heat out of the servers and subsequently reduced cooling costs.
